"INNOVATIVE SCHOOLS: TEACHING & LEARNING IN DIGITAL STEM LABS"

The Training Module 2 - Technology - Engineering in STEM This module was organised and delivered by Pamukkale University (Turkey) between 20th-23rd March 2023.

The participants of the training were:

• the secondary school teachers of general education subjects/educational contents from secondary schools (4 teachers per school): Nezihe Derya Baltali Bilim ve Sanat Merkezi; 3rd Junior High School of Rethymno; Panevėžio Žemynos progimnazija;

• staff members of Pamukkale University, University of Crete and Universidad Rey Juan Carlos.

This joint short-term training in duration of 4 days covered the following topics:

• Contemporary approaches to valorisation, interpretation and appropriate presentation of STEM education;

• Creating "Technology and Engineering around us!" lesson plan templates in multinational groups. The Role of Technology & Engineering in real life and its applications;

• The overview of the deliverables and relevant recommendations of the projects in the field of STEM education that were/are being implemented at European level under different European union programmes/funds Europe, Erasmus+ KA2): (i) project: "Let' s STEM it!", whose aim is to explore integrated STEM models at theoretical level based on the literature examination about integrated program approaches; (ii) program: STEM Integration Training Program carried out by Pamukkale University. The training program gives STEM integration education to STEM teachers in national schools; (iii) project: "From robotics to the ethics of technology: the new concept of human rights" (iv) other relevant projects;

• The overview of the deliverables and relevant recommendations of Relevant national projects/subprojects implemented in Turkey, presentations in national conferences;

• Relevant elements of the STEM educational contents offered through degrees/programmes of Pamukkale University (faculties and other relevant entities/bodies of Pamukkale University);

• Study visit of relevant Science Teaching/Engineering Laboratory in Pamukkale University and there will be sessions on researches about the educational use of digital technologies and the integration of the educational innovations of ICT such as high-tech experimental equipments, virtual & augmented reality and educational robotics in STEM teaching, sessions about the activities of developing teaching materials for science lessons with the use of microcomputers, high-tech experimental sets and virtual reality environments.
