"INNOVATIVE SCHOOLS: TEACHING & LEARNING IN DIGITAL STEM LABS"

The Training Module 3- Maths in STEM This module was organised and delivered by of Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (Spain) between 22nd-25th May 2023.

The participants of the training were:

• the secondary school teachers of general education subjects/educational contents from secondary schools (4 teachers per school): Nezihe Derya Baltali Bilim ve Sanat Merkezi; 3rd Junior High School of Rethymno; Panevėžio Žemynos progimnazija

• staff members of University of Crete, Pamukkale University and Universidad Rey Juan Carlos

This joint short-term training in duration of 4 days will cover the following topics:

• Contemporary approaches to valorisation, interpretation and appropriate presentation of STEM education;

• Creating "Maths around us!" lesson plan templates in multinational groups. Why is Maths important in the daily life? Sharing methodological experience & good practice,

Interdisciplinary connections, Applying theory into practice by filling in the templates created with practical applications, Presentation of the results in plenary by each group, Peer Reviews, Applications of Algebra in the real life, Functions/Graphs of functions & their applications in the real life, Vectors/vectors operations & their applications;

• The overview of the deliverables and relevant recommendations of the projects in the field of STEM education and digital education that were/are being implemented at European level under different European union programmes/funds, Erasmus+ KA2): (i) project: "Teachers in a digital world"; (ii) project: "Preparing Teachers for the Modern Day Schooling";(iii) Conference: "INTED 2017" International Technology, Education and Development Conference; (iv) other relevant projects;

• The overview of the deliverables and relevant recommendations of Relevant national projects/subprojects implemented in Spain, presentations in national conferences;

• Relevant elements of the STEM educational contents offered through degrees/programmes of the University of Rey Juan Carlos (faculties and other relevant entities/bodies of the University of Rey Juan Carlos);

• Study visit of relevant Innovation and Educational Improvement Research Group in University of Rey Juan Carlos and there will be sessions on researches about the educational use of digital technologies such as implementing the use of technology in the classroom, the use of virtual platforms based on Moodle, the introduction of eTwinning and several NOOCS/MOOCs, the use of simulators and student creation of dedicated Websites and Youtube channels as educational resources.
