PROJECT
"INNOVATIVE SCHOOLS: TEACHING & LEARNING IN DIGITAL STEM LABS"
2020-1-TR01-KA226-SCH-097611

Following the delivery the Curriculum Framework “DIGITAL STEM LABS” (intellectual output O2) and Methodological guide to teach "DIGITAL STEM LABS” (intellectual output O3), the project partners commenced with the development of a comprehensive Web-based thematic platform, i.e. Open Education Resource (OER) on educational provision of the “DIGITAL STEM LABS”.

During the lockdown due to pandemic teachers, parents and students found it difficult to keep in contact with one another and find reliable, easy to use digital education tools.

The project provides a platform with interactive tools, which revolutionise teaching methods in STEM education. The provisional content of the Web-based thematic platform, i.e. Open Education Resource (OER) is as follows:

• Innovative learning technologies for STEM subjects offering a large collection of virtual labs for teachers and student;

• A collection of online STEM labs, try-out interactive inquiry apps, combining labs and applications into Learning Spaces, and sharing these with other students and teachers. Inquiry cycles consist of the phases: Orientation, Conceptualisation, Investigation, Conclusion, and Discussion. The aim of an Inquiry cycle is to provide students with an opportunity to conduct digital scientific experiments, being guided through the inquiry process and supported at each step;

• Online labs providing students with the possibility to conduct scientific experiments in an online environment. Remotely-operated STEM labs (remote labs) offer an opportunity to experiment with real equipment from remote locations. Virtual labs simulate scientific equipment. Data sets present data from already performed lab experiments.

• A complete digital environment for secondary schools, allowing users to create their own courses, store their own content and also remotely attend and participate in the online courses.

• Digital STEM labs, addressesing the needs of kinesthetic, visual, and auditory learners, while incorporating 21st century skills that instill real-world critical thinking, and innovative problem solving.
